Midterm

A. Justify why should you be part of your community.
    -  I should be part of it because I live there. I want to share my opinions and help others using community service :) I want to join our community projects for organizing it. All people living in that community must be part of it. They should know what's on it.

B. 10 Things that I need to do to enhance my Community.
  1. Organize a food drive. Reach out to your local food pantry to see what the greatest need is. From there, it’s as simple as putting the call out to your circle to create awareness and organize the logistics of pick-up and drop-off. Placing ads in or writing a letter to the editor of your local paper or leveraging Facebook can help your campaign reach more people.
  2. Clean up your community. Organize a group of family and friends and set aside one day a week or month to get together and pick up the litter and trash on the roadsides or beaches in your community. It doesn't have to be just your street that you clean up either. Take turns cleaning each other's streets or pick a different street or section of road each time. Just be sure to take proper safety precautions.
  3. Plan social activities in your community such as cookouts, ball games, barbecues, festivals, parades, or other annual events. This can be a great way to get people in the community involved by coming out and getting to know each other. It will also show any visitors to your community that it is a friendly and pleasant place to live. Set good examples .
  4. A great way to improve your community is not by concentrating on the faults of your neighbors but by setting a good example of behavior yourself. Be friendly and outgoing to your neighbors and keep your home clean, your trash picked up, and your yard mowed. Don't be overly loud or disruptive in the neighborhood.
  5. Give back to your community by volunteering. There are a lot of worthy causes, and they could be as simple as volunteering to coach the kid's neighborhood ball team, organizing a bake sale or fundraiser for someone that may be sick or needy in your community, volunteering at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen, or helping or visiting an elderly person who otherwise may not have any family to do so.
  6. Be active in your community by taking part in local activities such as church events, charities, town hall meetings, or community voting. If it affects you and your community, take part and voice your opinion.
  7. Volunteer at a local school, senior center, hospital or animal shelter. These are four places that are always looking for a few extra hands. Whether its to share a skill or experience, help with simple tasks or just to lend an ear and laugh a bit, connecting with your neighbors int this way is priceless. You can never under-estimate the order of simple interactions between two beings.
  8. Get involved in town/city government. Most municipal governments (especially the smaller ones) are helped by a network of volunteer commissions and boards that tackle everything from recycling to economic development to arts & culture. These are often very important elements of community living that don’t always get the time and attention they need.
  9. Give blood. This is one of the easiest things you could ever do to help someone. Blood banks are always in need of more. As the American Red Cross says, “Give the gift of life.”
  10. Join or start a Common Security Club. This is a bit smaller in scale than spearheading a Transition Town initiative, but no less important. Common Security Clubs got their start by people wanting to figure out ways of better understanding and weathering the uncertainties of our economic and ecological times. They come together to talk it through and figure out ways to weather the proverbial storm.

My Role in Our Community

My Role in our community is to know what my own obligations are and to follow it. For all we know all of us are have their own obligations in our own communities. We need to follow rules and regulations done by our government. No need to explain it further but we need to do it harder. Helping others without calling your name is one of the best roles you've done with your fellow-beings. Even though they are not good at you do some good favors for them. And they will be shock for what they have seen; even though they're mean you're still kind and polite to respect them by their deed. One of the most polite deed for our community is to serve them without waiting for any in return..

My Community

Our Community is a town of Natural beauty, but it seems so quiet.. It is very Small.. But it is full of Population :) Our Community is so Colourful because of Peoples who are thoughtful, friendly, kind etc. They know how to appreciate people. I find people very chill, funny, and down to earth. Most of us here in our Community are all Christians. Some are very conservative and others are most likely hot :D I almost known all people here in our community.. Like what I've said our community is very small. Although we’re not 100% sure that our community is totally safe. But we keep it very clean. We plant many trees there, for us not to have floods. Peoples here in our Community are Responsible enough to know their own obligations. They need to follow our rules and regulations.. Our Community is full of Happiness and love. I'm Glad to be part of this Community. They appreciates each other.. And they know how to go with the flow. Cause every Filipinos have their own egos.

Friendly

Filipinos are basically a friendly people, even to strangers. Filipinos are always friendly with strangers or newcomers. They want the newcomer to feel at home or part of the group. They normally ask questions about a newcomer's background, which may be interpreted as being nosy at times. But it is just their way of having to "feel" the person, of having to "know" him in order for them to establish rapport. Asking about the background of a newcomer or stranger also helps a Filipino test his skills, in particular his ability to use other languages that he knows. For example, English-speaking visitors to the Philippines might find it strange that Filipinos respond in English even if they attempt to talk to them in Tagalog or any other local language. It is because Filipinos want to prove to the foreigners that they are able to speak a language, be it English, Japanese, or other foreign language, that they know. For some Filipinos, it is a shame if he or she cannot speak good English to an English-speaking foreigner. By showing that he is able to do so also proves that he is an educated person as well.

Brave

Filipinos are a brave people. We always put up a brave face even in the midst of troubles. No food on the table? Debts weighing us down? Houses and belongings washed away by flood? The brave face is always shown laughing, or at least smiling, despite the tribulations. Filipinos are brave to face problems, Crisis, and also brave to let go their Love one's even if it hurts so much. Look at the faces of the Filipinos, they still at-least smile even if in trouble, even if their love one's left them behind. They don't take Life so seriously. Filipinos are Brave to save others. They don't just think about themselves.

Honest

Proven that Filipinos are one of the most Honest people in the World. Filipinos who, by their honesty, have made their fellow Filipinos proud of their upbringing and uprightness deeply ingrained in their race. Look this is according to the global survey conducted by RD. Respondents from 16 countries were asked about how they would conduct themselves if they happen to see a wallet having $1000 in it. According to the survey, 86% of the Filipino respondents chose to return the wallet and the money. Proven that Filipinos are honest. Not only for money's but also to their friends, Love one's, Families and also to other Filipinos. They tend to Love each other.

Responsible

Filipinos are very responsible specially when we are talking about their Families. They are doing their best for their family to have a great and happy life. They are responsible for taking good care of their child, for searching a decent job, and also Filipinos are responsible for helping others. They are doing their best for them to have a successful life. Also to have a Complete and happy Family. Like our President Noynoy Aquino he is responsible for us Filipinos. He's doing his best for taking good care of our Country and also us Filipinos.

Diligence

Filipinos are very diligent people. They are working for them to help their own Families. They are doing their best to find a fine and decent jobs. Maybe some other Filipinos are "tambay" cause of lack of money for them to study and find jobs. Even though, some other Filipinos are working to a bar's, club's and etc. Just because they don't finish their studies and some other companies don't accept them because they are not graduated. But then, they are trying to search a job even though its not legal they did their best for them to find jobs for their families.

Environment Friendly

Filipinos are Environment Friendly they are good for taking care of our environment. They don't let it destroyed or look like trash. They tend to plant trees for us not to have Flash Floods or other disasters. They don't let illegal loggers to cut trees.. Filipinos know how to recycle, dispose and to separate trash. Filipinos are responsible for that thing. Also they do it for us not to have sick because of our bad environment. And also for those tourist who are having vacation here in the Philippines.

Volunteerism

Every Filipino should contribute some of his or her time and talent to the development of his or her community, without promise of any compensation or reward aside from the spiritual fulfillment that one experiences when one shares of himself or herself voluntarily. Moreover, I believe in the time-honored and time-tested Filipino value of “bayanihan,” or working together voluntarily, as a crucial element in local and national development. Volunteerism is one of the most authentic values of Filipinos. Many Filipinos specially gentlemen are voluntarily helps ladies, without waiting for any return.

God-Fearing

Though we Filipinos belong to various religious groups, we all essentially have God at the center of our lives. It is normal for families to pray together and to go to church and hear mass together. Our lives are governed by the belief that there is a loving and powerful God who has created us and watches over us. Filipinos are God-Fearing people. They don't forget to pray for they're sins, they don't forget to thank god when they receive's blessings, and also God who helps us to solve our problems. We know that God gives us challenges that he knows we can do it :) God don't give us challenges he know's we can't solve. That's why many Filipinos really Love and posses to God. They give they're life and soul to God.

Nationalism

Nationalism is an imperative of authentic development. We cannot have true development unless it promotes the common good and the national interest of our people. This means expressing a preference for things Filipino. This means having faith in our own capacity to accomplish our goals. Filipinos are very nationalism because even though they are on the other countries they bring our nationality and our authentic values their. They don't forget to share our learning's here in our Country.

Hospitality

One of the most authentic values of Filipinos is Hospitality. All peoples the world over are hospitable in their own way, but hospitality is something that is almost a fault. Call it naivete, but the Filipino opens heart to you, a complete stranger and offers you the best in his kitchen and bed chamber. He makes the bed for you and asks you, usually with a profusion of apologies, to make yourself feel “at home,” while he, the host, sleeps on the floor. Filipinos treat their visitors special. Sharing is seen in the Filipino way of life, but unfortunately, it is limited to one’s in-group, to which one has personal relationships. They are more Hospitable than to other people or Foreigners. One patent Filipino trait that immediately commends itself to the foreigner is hospitality.
